First of all a massive thanks to all those that attended our third birthday party in October, I think everyone will agree that Jason Hodges truly ripped the place up. An excellent evening was had by all and it was nice to see so many smiley happy faces! Photos from the birthday are up the ‘Gallery’ section of the Stylus website.
So into November we go… Christmas is creeping up slowly (well not according to the mass marketing campaigns, only 53 days to go…), the leaves are dropping from the trees and its time to go and splash the cash on a nice new winter jacket to keep the cold at bay. For November’s Stylus its time for the residents to take over the whole night and treat you all to a night of the music that made us put on the night in the first place. House music. Deep, jackin, dirty, soulful, techy, bleepy, twisted, bumpin, or whatever sub-genre you class the sounds pounding out of the speakers, its what made us do this in the first place… a love of good house music.
Les, Scott and Tom will be delving into their crates and providing the musical soundtrack to the whole night, a task which we all are looking forward to, expect to hear a mix of old, new, classics and anthems to get your feet moving.

September 2002 and Les was invited to join the "Liquid" radio crew on ALL FM 96.9 Manchester. "The first night was extremely nerve racking but even still, I enjoyed myself and got the bug instantly! I only missed one show whilst I was away with my lovely Girlfriend Wendy in the New Year". Whilst working on the show he met many of the UK’s most influential house figures, with luminaries such as Steve Lawler, K-Klass, 808 State, Bobby Langley, Jon Dasilva, Subliminal, Deep Dish and Danny Howells.
Roll forward two years and Les had moved from radio to promoting, forming part of the Stylus team and is a resident at the club. He's building up an increasing roster of gigs over the Northwest and UK with Club like Sankeys, The Masque (Liverpool), The Bomb (Nottingham), The Magnet (Liverpool), Rhythm Room (Hull), Club Zero (Stoke), and the White Rooms (Sunderland).
Stylus 2005 and beyond.
“2005 has been a fantastic year, one of the highlights playing at the 40,000 D:Percussion Festival and also being involved with Futuresonic Festival. The most memorable night ever will be playing the main room at Sankeys in the Summer alongside Scott and my Hero ‘MARK FARINA’ on the wonderful Phazon Soundsystem using the best mixer known to man, the Rane Rotary mixer, that was some night. The best thing about Stylus is without doubt the vibe, we have such a genuine and loyal following who support us 100%, you can’t ask for more than that. Stylus up to now has been an interesting project, our sound has evolved from just straight up deep underground house. Scott and I have developed new styles and people sometimes never know what we’re gonna play, we try and make it as interesting as possible. The Stylus nights have been sometimes off the wall too, the brilliant rejuvenation of the ‘Yellow Reunion’ was something I’ll never forget, 700 happy punters getting emotional in the Music Box, it’s was an amazing night. Stylus now has Jason Boardman on the team, Jason is an inspiration to us all, his experience and taste in Music is so vast, I’m so glad he joined Stylus in Sept, he’s really opened up the music to appeal to a wider audience. We’re also excited about our newest recruit, Tom Golden. We’ve been working closely with Tom and the Homegrown crew for nearly 2 years now and it’s great he’s joined us, he’s so experienced for such a young age. Tom’s had a couple of releases on Midland underground house label ‘Lost My Dog’ and I see bigger things for Tom, he makes the whole Stylus team stronger than ever. 2006 is going be special at our new home ‘The Attic’.”

Scott Carey
The Manchester clubbing scene of the late 80's & early 90's provided the inspiration that started Scotts interest in House music, the main clubs being The Thunderdome & Hippo's. After learning his trade playing in many pubs & house parties around the city, a few club appearences here and there started to wet his appetite for life behind the decks.
"My main influence was a DJ called Jay Wearden, without going to his nights I don't think I would ever have bought my first set of decks. He was the best in my eyes. He never sold out and played amazing records."
Joining Les, Barkery & Ste on the ALL FM "Liquid" radio show in September 2002 saw things start to get serious. Loads of local and international talent was featured on the show and some great and long standing friends and contacts were made. Shortly after the show finished Stylus began in October 2003.
"This year playing in Ireland and Norway was a real highlight. Also playing on the same bill as the likes of Phil Weeks, Kenny Hawkes, Dave Haslam & Joey Youngman to name only a few has also been cool. Getting to meet the people who make the records I play is something I would never of imagined in 1991 when I started."
"I mostly play deep house with a nice groove"

“Tom's a whipper snapping 22 but his musical taste in the boompty has all the hallmarks of the much older Luke Solomon.” – I-DJ MAGAZINE 2003
Tom took his first steps into DJing properly when he put on a one off night called Homegrown in his home town of Northwich back in July 2000. The night was run alongside two of his friends (both DJs) Adam B & Nathan Landry. Shortly after the night they were contacted by Levi's and Mixmag to play alongside Tom Stephan on the 'Levis Student House Party Tour', which took in Leeds, Newcastle and Sankeys Soap in Manchester, this gave them a taste of what Djing out to crowds was like and they loved it.
Djing wise Tom has been playing out for the last 5 years all over the UK and across Europe, in this time he has held down 3 residences the most successful of which was a weekly residency at Manchester night ‘Landed' back in 2003. Each week he was warming up for the legendary Hacienda resident Graeme Park as well as many other top-notch names, doing the warm up slot enabled Tom to gain invaluable experience into building a vibe up from nothing, something which he still enjoys doing today. Over the last 2 years Tom and the other lads have worked hard at getting the Homegrown name known and this has shown in the amount of gigs and places they have travelled to and played at, with the parties getting better and better each time. Notable gigs in the UK have included Tribal Sessions at Sankeys Soap, The Masque Theatre in Liverpool, The Gallery at Turnmills in London and doing various summer parties down at the Bomb in Nottingham. As well as the UK Tom has ventured out to the continent on numerous occasions and played at some amazing parties, the highlights of which were playing at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in Croatia (on top of a fort!), the Zagreb Film Festival both in 2004 and 2005 (spinning to over 1500 people), playing at the awesome Cova Den Xoroi in Menorca (set in a cliff top cave) and doing a small tour of Belgium in August 2005.
