Full Biography
DJ / Producer / Remixer / Promoter
Continuing his long-standing residency at Liverpool’s Circus alongside head honcho Yousef and contemporary luminaries like Luciano, Alex is also gearing up for a hectic world tour. Kicking off the proceedings is New Year.s Eve in Thailand for Ibiza heavyweights We Love. then it.s down under for his fourth annual tour of Australia. South America is next on the list followed by a string of dates across the USA, to coincide with the Miami Winter Music Conference.
2008 in Ibiza was a highly successful year for Alex, holding down two of the most revered residencies on the globe with We Love. Sundays at Space and the world famous Cafe Mambo. Add to this his own weekly Ministry Of Sound radio show, with over one million listeners and you’ve got one very busy DJ.
Throughout the summer, Alex shared the booth with Cassius, Paul Woolford, Greg Wilson, Ben Watt and Danny Howells at Space to name a few and at Cafe Mambo, Kenny Dope, Basement Jaxx, Satoshi Tomiie and Faithless played by his side. He was invited to play many exclusive villa parties on the island alongside the likes of Groove Armada and Luciano – for celebs including Kylie Minogue, Sienna Miller, Simon and Yasmin Le Bon no less.
Alex – who began DJing as a teenager at legendary Liverpool club – Cream, building up an impressive music collection whilst managing the ever-popular Play Music Records in Leeds – cites his influences as Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos and DJ Sneak. Production-wise, Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Ben Watt and Greg Wilson are inspirations.
Rather than get lost in certain styles and genres of music, Alex moves freely across all spectrums, focusing on the overall feeling and vibe of the crowd, the atmosphere and party spirit surrounding him. From an emotional, musically versatile sunset set, merging classical, chillout and techno as mid-afternoon turns to sunset and into night or a seamless stream of twisted .80s, future disco and electronic leftfield madness in a club, his musical range is varied to say the least.
With a long string of productions to his name already, Alex . who has worked with Nic Fanciulli, MYNC Project, Sarah Main and Yousef and remixed international artists such as Fat Boy Slim, Style of Eye and Harry Choo Choo Romero – is currently hard at work in the studio, doing remixes and working on his own solo projects for next year, including his own re-edits exclusively for his sets.
And in his spare time, Alex is in the process of launching his own digital label and preparing to launch a new website – www.alexwolfenden.com – where regular mixes from the tour will be available to download.
