Yousef’s 2nd artist album “a product of your environment” paints an entirely new picture of a dj artist album and is easily his finest work to date.
Designed to be listening to from start to finish the album is far cry from beat led DJ long player. Each track is a composition and has its own identity. Full songs sit next to melody and instrumentation while being intertwined with serious underground dance floor moments. Pumping tech funk rides along side melancholy poignant vocals, heavy drums dance around quirky club electronica.
A product of your environment is reflective of Yousef’s love for real music coupled with his deep understanding and passion for the underground house & techno he is famous for.
The club tracks on the album are already being played by Loco Dice, Magda, Carl Cox, Guti, Uner and Nic Fanciulli particularly with Yousef’s “For the Terraces”
Yousef has taken his production skills to the next level on this record, inviting many largely unknown but super talented musicians to perform and his project.
Every track was produced, arranged and mixed by Yousef with guest musicians appearing including Mercury Prize nominee “Gwilyam Simcock” on the open and fresh sounding album finale “Dissolve”. The penultimate track, the dramatic powerful (and possibly Yousef’s finest ever track) “In fear of dusk”, features “Neil Campbell” one of the UK’s finest classical guitar players. The album is designed to be professional sounding with a lofi authentic edge
“a product of your environment” also features the talents of Binary Cell studio’s Stefan Kazassglou and Mark Brocklesby who helped record the vocals, mic up the live piano and skillfully play some of the live instrumentation on this project.
A scattering of other talent including vocal songstress’ Candie Payne and Charli Taft appear. While male vocals come from unknowns David Williams and Tom Craft along with Chicago house legend “Alexander East” on “Think Twice”. With the exception of “Had no Sleep” Yousef penned all the lyrics.
Yousef paints a technicolour picture of where his musical environment has been paralleled with his unquenchable desire to continuing to devastate the worlds finest dance floors in his dj sets…
